Greige

Is greige such a word? Its beige and grey combined so it sounds right! I did go through a stage when linen and french reproduction furniture was starting to be so mass produced that I took a run for it, when you start to go to trade events in Australia and see endless rows of the same thing its so easy as a designer to swear away from it for life but I must say its now been re-invented (Im not talking the same french style) in a more classic organic and rustic way, personally I love a man in a grey suit, hand painted grey and white tiles, silver finishes, grey walls with lots of white contrast and I'm absolutely obsessed at the moment with grey aged linens with tints of powder blues washed out to give texture and and an almost serene feel. To me colour is all about expression, its how you put a look together to create an ambience of stylish looks, timeless interiors and well travelled pieces.

Indigo Blues

Whether its tiles from Morocco  hand dyed fabrics from India stamped in beautiful designs, hand made pottery or the colours of nature, no other colour inspires and influences my design more than the colour blue!

Shimmering Gold

The shimmering metallic colour has recently made a stunning resurgence, appearing not only in decorative objects and picture frames, but also in large scale furnishings and wall treatments. It can be as gleaming as chrome and silver, but gold has the distinct advantage thats its sunny in character and is infinitely warmer. I personally love using gold but I try to keep it more limited to a one off piece, accessories and frames.

White Canvas

I love the colour white as its complete and pure, the colour of perfection. The meaning of white is purity, innocence, wholeness and completion. In psychology white is the colour of new beginnings, wiping the slate clean, so to speak. It is the blank canvas waiting to be written upon. While white isn't stimulating to the senses, it opens the way for creation of anything the mind can conceive.

I thought my post on White was symbolic to new beginnings....my office is organised and spotlessly clean, files sorted and new stationary ordered all ready for a New Year!

I have also made a few changes to my Verandah House facebook page, rather than posting lots of individual inspirations pictures, I am now linking each post to my blog, I think its more interesting and fun that way! I am now on Instagram wow is that addictive and of course I can always be found pinning away on pinterest!

Have a great weekend see you Monday x

    Earthy Delights

In a world of interiors where colour is the new normal I cant help feeling that neutrals are perhaps perceived as passe, yet more and more I'm drawn to the beauty of neutral interiors in may forms such as; patterned tiles, ceramics, wood, rattan, antiques, gold or silver, one off objects collected on your travels, raw, refined, story telling and interesting. I could write a book about why I love neutrals equally as much as I love colour but I suppose that what makes the world of interiors just so interesting!
